We were at a cabin on the lake this weekend, and the scene out our window inspired this drawing. I was trying to find a good way to do the trees on the hill without having too many lines. It turned out ok I think.

FDR portrait by request. It kind of looks like him. Not my best though. Looks like he had a stroke on the right side of his face.

A tribute to Michael DeForge’s Ant Comic. I read it on the web when it was published, and bought the paper published version too. I love the story, I love the characters, and the art. Such a great book.

And a slice of pizza. We had pizza that night. No big story :)

A couple of cranes. Wasn’t feeling motivated, so found an origami crane which I thought would be easy. Not a lot of detail, but have to get the scale and position of the lines right or it won’t look like a crane.

Decided to continue the theme for the next day and drew a real crane. The background needed more attention, but I like the crane.

A Jack-o-lantern with some shading.

And Sean Connery as Bond. We’ve been watching all the Bond films in order, so this was my inspiration.

Wanted to do an orchid. Liked the way this one came out except for one of the flowers. The pot came out almost exactly the way I wanted.

Also wanted to do something harvest like, so tried to do an ear of corn. The kernels were hard, the line weight and size of the corn didn’t mix well. But I like it over all.

Flipped it over for these ones. Drew my current home work space. Laptop, books, drawing supplies, etc. Not great, but fun.

Tried to do a perspective archery drawing. Not too bad, but the body of the archer is not good. Didn’t spend enough time on it.

Left side, was going to fill in the entire circle black, but got to this point and kind of liked it. A little bit of an old Pepsi logo feel. I think most of the serifs came out ok. My tribute to inktober.

Right is another tribute to Canadians finally getting rid of Harper. I’m Canadian, but can’t currently vote due to being out of the country, so it was nice to follow this good news.

Was away this weekend, and didn’t have a lot of time to spend on the drawings. Found a remote control on the table to draw. Tough to get every button in proportion and aligned. Fun though.

Picked up another source image from Humans of New York to draw. He’s too squished against the wall, and his left jawline is a bit warped. Should have drawn pants too.

A couple of simpler drawings. Hot Air balloon with some textured terrain (that could have been better), and a spider web off a street lamp. The perspective of the lamp could have been better to get a better web shape.

Saw a billboard for a Critters Expo here in Seattle. That movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, couldn’t sleep for literally months. Fun to revisit with a drawing.

Drew a flamingo for the other page.

I really like how both of these turned out. I wish I had spent more time on the backgrounds. The horizon for the flamingo is weird.
